Classification of hardmetal grades

Hardmetal grades are classified and identified by main machining groups and application groups in accordance with the new Standard DIN ISO 513 ( replaces DIN 4990)

                                            P                                 M                                         K

Application group            P01  P10  P20   P30  P40          M10   M20  M30  M40                K01   K10  K20  K30

Material composition       WC-TiC-TaC-Co                   WC-TiC-TaC-Co                                    WC-Co

Main features High resistance to heat
and welding, high content of TiC and TaC, resist thermal failures
Moderate content of TiC and TaC,resist thermal and machanical failures Mainly compound of WC which has high strength resists mechanical failures
